Touring the countryside of Tamilnadu

This video clip is taken during our photographic expedition cum pleasure trip to the interiors of Tamilnadu in India. Manjith is at the wheel. The road in the video connects Chengalapatu and Mahabalipuram. The two old Hindi songs played on the car music player are sung by legendary singer Asha Bhosale.

Fishermen kids

On the coast of Rameshwaram, when clicking photographs of wonderful scenery around, I found these kids playing in a small boat parked in the sand along the shore. When I stopped and aimed the camera at them, they might have found it as an intrusion although I was good twenty metres away from them. I clicked once. I got an expression of unfamiliarity and curiosity on their faces. A simple friendly wave by me changed the expression completely and just then I clicked again. What an instant tool photography is to connect to kids!

The picture on the left was taken on NH7 during the tea break. It must be around 5 O'clock in evening. Although the large cloud in this picture is captured reasonably well, it is felt that the power lines at bottom right corner look odd and are a distraction to the viewer. This picture was cropped from right and left side in order to remove the power lines. It is also cropped from right and top side in order to place, I would like to say, the crown of the cloud at the right place. It is quite likely that the original photo with power lines can be viewed in another angle than a skyscapes where the power lines make the viewer aware of the modern world.

This photo is taken in Cauvery Hostel Garden of IIT Madras on one fine Sunday morning. Plan was to go around the campus to capture nature with Amol's camera. Atul, along with me, also wanted to try his hands in order to learn a few more things about photography. Ultimately we ended up in spending whole of the morning in the hostel garden itself. It was a quite a revealation that this garden had so much to offer to a nature enthusiast. I will be grateful if anybody tells me name of this plant.

This photo is taken in the garden of Cauvery Hostel in IIT Madras campus. The striking feature in this picture is the dark, blurred background. The image could look better if I could avoid the bright reflection from the edges of the flower petals. This reflection has made the flowers look less tender, whereas the buds behind the front two flowers look tender and one can feel the freshness of the morning sun rays. Anyway, had I taken the photo some two hours earlier, the effect I mentioned earlier could be achieved without extra efforts.
