Touring the countryside of Tamilnadu
This video clip is taken during our photographic expedition cum pleasure trip to the interiors of Tamilnadu in India. Manjith is at the wheel. The road in the video connects Chengalapatu and Mahabalipuram. The two old Hindi songs played on the car music player are sung by legendary singer Asha Bhosale.

A girl on the sea-shore
I sighted this girl almost from thirty-forty feet, when she was sitting still in the dark with only light from the street lamps reaching her. Incidentally I could see the lights from a ship that was sailing on horizon. It was evident from the sight the girl was not from the native land. I imagined state of her mind and thoughts and to present them I caught her in my camera. I framed the scene in such a way that the ship and the girl came in opposite corners of the frame to show even as she might be thinking about her dear one or her family or her motherland which was oceans apart she is still there away from home - a fact that she was aware of. Exposure of 1 s made camera see more than my eyes could perceive as the photograph shows a hint of blueness of the sky, the colours of lamps on the ship, the waves in sea, the rocks on shore and the girl herself.
Place: Pondicherry (on east coast of India), March 2005
Camera: Canon Powershot A80
Exposure: 1 s, f/4.5, ISO400

Fishermen kids
On the coast of Rameshwaram, when clicking photographs of wonderful scenery around, I found these kids playing in a small boat parked in the sand along the shore. When I stopped and aimed the camera at them, they might have found it as an intrusion although I was good twenty metres away from them. I clicked once. I got an expression of unfamiliarity and curiosity on their faces. A simple friendly wave by me changed the expression completely and just then I clicked again. What an instant tool photography is to connect to kids!
Camera: Sony DSC H1
Exposure: 1/1000 s, f/4.5, ISO100 for both the snaps

PraNav in deep thoughts
The photo is taken at the shore of Arabian Sea at Bhogave, Sindhudurga, Maharashtra
Camera: Vivitar 3800N film SLR with 28-70 mm lens
Exposure details are not recorded. Kodak ISO400 film is used. I caught this moment when sun was setting on the west coast. The exposure meter misled me and I set a faster shutter speed leaving dark areas underexposed and hence granular. As composition of this photograph was satisfactory, I decided to make a b/w image with added grains using Picasa and got the photo posted here as the result.

Caterpillar
I could not identify the type of this caterpillar. Somebody may help me do that. This link WhatsThisCaterpillar will be helpful. I could not spot here too! But I may have missed the right one as the plate displayed is full with images of numerous types of caterpilars.
Place: Citadel of Rajagiri, Gingee (TN, IND)
Camera: Canon Powershot A80
Exposure: 1/500 s, f/3.5, ISO100, +1/3 step correction.

Photograph of the day - Landscapes
Mountains in Sahyadris
Place: Mahabaleshwar (Maharashtra)
Camera: Vivitar 3800N film SLR with 28-70 mm lens
Exposure details are not recorded. Kodak ISO400 film is used.
For this picture, I feel that ISO100 film would have produced better colours and made the image less granular. The top portion showing sky is given a bluish tint for a better effect. The photograph is taken at fullest wide angle possible with the lens which has lead the image to have dark arcs in the corners.
